Certainty Stacking

Good Morning Friends!!

It’s Thursday and this week I am thankful for a concept my good friend, Rachel Curfew (an AMAZING anxiety coach), taught me called “Certainty Stacking”.

Self-belief, aka confidence, is absolutely critical to showing up as our best.  In fact, Jason Salk, in his book, “Relentless Solution Focus” states, “Self-Confidence is the #1 variable for all human performance.”  So, how do you generate this vital belief in yourself when you are new to something?

When uncertainty threatens to derail us, or shut us down from even trying, it is imperative we are able to generate powerful self-belief to counterbalance it.  “Certainty Stacking” is an awesome tool that tips the scales of uncertainty in our favor, landing us in the necessary self-belief to put ourself out there, regardless of experience level or how comfortable we feel doing “the thing”.

In order to engage this tool of “Certainty Stacking” you must answer one question over and over again.

What do you feel 100% certain about?

Start creating a written list.  Here are some things on my list:

  • I am 100% certain I can French braid hair
  • I am 100% certain I can drive my car to the store
  • I am 100% certain I love my kids
  • I am 100% certain God loves me
  • I am 100% certain I have an amazing husband
  • I am 100% certain I can use my phone to search up questions

As you are making this list of things you are 100% certain about, be sure to also include silly answers.  Being light-hearted and fun actually rewires our brains even faster, shifting our focus from insecurity to self-confidence more effectively.  For example:

  • I am 100% certain that I can do a farmer’s blow (It’s true- I’ve practiced this- LOL)
  • I am 100% certain I can find the right necklace and earrings to empower any outfit
  • I am 100% certain I can whistle so loud it will hurt people’s ears
  • I am 100% certain I can successfully pee in a toilet.

There is a powerful shift that happens as we lean into those things we know for sure we are comfortable and capable of doing—> we focus on our strengths instead of our weaknesses.  We tap into the universal law, “That which you focus on expands”.  The feeling of confidence grows as we stack each brick of certainty on top of another.  We realize it’s not about perfection, it’s about growth.  Over time, “the thing” will become another brick of self-belief we are 100% certain about.

When we believe in our ability to handle whatever comes up, we are able to do the thing that is new or feels unknown and unsettling. Trust in ourself expands and we take the leap.

My challenge to you this week is to start making a list of 100 things you are 100% certain about.  Continually add to this list and refer back it in moments of doubt or insecurity.  Choose to build your self-belief and focus on your strengths.  Remember- there is no growth in your comfort zone and no comfort in your growth zone.

I am so thankful for “Certainty Stacking” which will enhance our performance and aid our experience in the growth zone.

What are you thankful for today? Take a minute to lean into gratitude, it will elevate you- I am 100% certain of that!!

I am also 100% certain that…

Rooting for you always,
