Playing with Heart

Dear Friends,

Good morning!!  On this Thurdsay, what are you thankful for?

I love sports and believe they are a vehicle to teach powerful life lessons. This is one of the many reasons I am passionate about coaching grils basketball. I’ve had the best week in Saint George with the Morgan High School Girls Basketball team at the Dixie State Basketball Team Camp. Oh there is so much to be grateful for!!!  Of the many things I could mention, I want to focus this “Thankful Thursday” message on how thankful I am for ahtletes who play with heart.  It is inspiring and such a great example of how I want to live my life.

Check out these pictures:

These bruises, blisters and floor burns are hardcore evidence of playing with heart.  These girls go for every loose ball, hustle when odds are stacked against them, body up against girls 3x their size and believe in themselves to make a difference on the court.  “Playing wiht heart” creates game-changers on the court and world-changers in life.

Watching these girls play game after game with so much heart has given me pause to analyze how I am attacking my life.  I am grateful for setting a new intention to go after my goals and aspirations “with heart”!!

To get out of our comfortable cave and work toward the future of our dreams, we have to override our extreme survivalist lower brain by working incredibly hard, denying immediate gratiication, and enduring the pain of growth— which most assuredly includes falls, bumps and bruises.  We have to supersede the tribal paranoia our lower brain will throw at us by resisting comparative judgment and people pleasing— making peace with the pace and quality of our individual growth.

We will undoubtably need to reject the discouragement, lies and distraction the Natural Man will inject into every (-)50 moment along the way.  All this is embodied in “playing with heart”.

I can’t wait to watch these freshmen grow and develop, not only over the next 4 years, but also in life.

“Playing with heart” creates incredible dividends. I’m thankful for this reminder of how I want to live my life.  Like these athletes, I intend to be a game-changer too by playing with heart!!

What does “playing with heart” look like for you in your life?

Thanks for being part of my journey.  I am thankful for you!!

Genuinely yours,

Candice Noss
